Robert G. (Bob) Smith, CPA

 Bob was born in Syracuse, NY and was raised in the Appomattox/Lynchburg, VA area.  He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management in 1978.  In 1992 he graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Campbell University and earned his Certified Public Accountant license in 1990.  Bob served as the Business Office and Budget Director at Glen R. Frye Hospital in Hickory, NC in the early 1980’s before moving to Rocky Mount, NC to become the CFO/CEO and Part-Owner of Community Hospital in the early 1990’s.  Bob started Robert G. (Bob) Smith, CPA in 1995 in Cary, NC  (changed to Smith & Smith, CPA in 2011) and created the motto:

“We focus on handing our clients accounting needs, so they can focus making money!”  

Bob is married to his lovely wife, Sharon, and they live in Cary, NC.  Together they have three sons: Chris, Blake and Cam.  He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

J. Blake Smith, CPA

Blake was born in Hickory, NC and was raised in Rocky Mount, NC before moving to Cary, NC in 1993.  He attended East Carolina University where he completed the 5-year Undergraduate & Accelerated Masters Degree Program and in 2004 earned both his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and  Master of Science in Accounting in 4 ½ years.  He earned his Certified Public Accountant license in 2011 and became partner at Smith & Smith, CPA.  Blake specializes in real estate property ownership & taxes and is an expert in restricted stock options, stock options and ESPP stock for many tech companies (particularly IBM, Cisco and NetApp).   Blake is married to his wonderful wife, Becca.  They reside in Cary and have two sons: Trent and Mark.  Blake enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and visiting amusement parks with his boys.

R. Cameron (Cam) Smith

 Cam was born in Rocky Mount, NC and moved to Cary, NC with his family in 1993. He attended University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2007.  Cam started working at Smith & Smith, CPA after graduating from UNCW and later earned his Master of Science in Accounting from Strayer University in 2009.  Cam is a Notary Public and is currently completing the qualifications to become a Certified Public Accountant.  Cam is married to his charming wife, Brooke.  They live in Apex, NC with their two children: Connor and Bailey.  Cam enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach and outdoor activities such as snowboarding and golfing.

Rebecca (Becca) Fleenor Smith

Director of Marketing

Becca was born in Bristol, TN and moved to Greenville, NC with her family in 1993.  She attended East Carolina University where she proudly served the school as an ECU Ambassador for 4 years and received the distinguished Robert H. Wright Alumni Leadership Award in 2003.  Becca graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism in 2003 and went on to earn her Master of Business Administration in 2004, also from East Carolina University.  She was hired at Smith & Smith, CPA in the Fall of 2004 as the Director of Marketing (she was the  first full-time employee).  Becca is a master at making business connections and deeply involved in the community.  She uses her marketing skills to promote clients through her blog (www.beccasblog.com) and other networks.  Becca is married to Blake (see above) and during her spare time she enjoys photography, fashion news and spending time with her family.

Sharon Smith

Accounting Associate

 Sharon was born in Buena Vista, VA and moved to Lynchburg, VA at an early age.  She earned her BA degree from Lynchburg College and taught Middle/High School for several years in Rocky Mount, NC.  After moving to Cary, NC with her family in 1993, she started teaching at Cary High School until her retirement in the Fall of 2011.  She was a beloved teacher at Cary High and everyone was sad to see her leave, but working with her family on a daily basis was an opportunity that she didn’t want to pass up.  Sharon is married to Bob (see above) and enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
